I believe that most of us has been asking everywhere since the day we start to MOD on our car. Can we put a turbo kit on AX. Why a turbo? There's many peformance parts which used by a lot of members, the most common one should be induction kit + full exhaust system.

However, it is has been overwhelming by manufaturer and user about its power gain. And when we look from the RM : HP ratio are very unattractive. Especially those who spend near to RM2k from local manufacurer name Hotb*ts for only a approximately 10% power gain for this little 1024cc engine. Furthermore, most of the kit available only increase HP but lost the torque. That's mean you lost you acceleration but get a better top speed. and the fact is, HOW MANY MINUTE in a month you are driving in topspeed?

How about Twin Webber 40's Carb (RM850)? Well I already got someone who install this before and it does increase the torque but not much HP as I can judge from his top speed only increase for 5km/h. And the fuel consumption are out of your immagination.

If you wanna talk about performance cam (RM1000++), I would go back to the same cost-performance talk. And also the fuel consumption. Don't tell me you just wanna change the cam alone. A new well-work cam-kit  has to be consist of camshaft, cam follower, vernier pulley, camshaft drivebelits and valve spring. I don't think I need to tell you the price here as they are converted from Pounds sterling or EUROs and you won't consider about it after you heard the figure.

Port polishing, who can do the right job for you is a problem and the cost more than RM1000/= will just chase you away. According to GMC motorsporta, UK any mistake in port polishing at the wrong places or depth can rob you engine power away.

I just talk to a member who did all these above with uprated suspension from Hotb*ts which cost him more than RM14k and the turn out was disapointed him.

For those who one to see a clear difference, I recomended an engine transplant especially your are going to add in more performance kit inside. As we can see those kit above are increasing your  HP  based on percentage. That's mean the stronger is the engine, the better you gain each time you add in a kit.

For example, if certain model of air induction kit and full sport exhaust system can increase your standard H1A engine which having 60HP  by 6HP, these are the changes if you transplant your engine.

75HP 1.4GT, Xsara, Berlingo, 106, 205, 206, 307  Saxo,  1.4i  injection (KDY, KDZ,  KDX & KFX) +7.5HP
85HP 1.4GT Twin-solex 32-34 Z2 (K2A) +8.5HP
95HP 1.4GTi multipoint injection (K6B & KFZ) +9.5HP
90 HP Saxo VTR, 106, 206, 306, Xsara  1.6i (NFZ) +9HP
100HP 106 1.3 Rallye (MFZ)  +10HP
100HP 106 1.6i (NFW & NFY) +10HP
120HP 106Gti, Saxo VTS (NFX) +12HP

Knowing your target is the most important thing in doing MOD for you car. If your budget is between RM100-500 each time and what are you looking for are just some mild MOD do refer to our DIY section that featured  our very low cost DIY kits.

If you are considering major or stage by stage upgrade for long term, instead of changing all the minor parts into performance type. The best choice you can have is to start up with a stronger foundation or engine - ENGINE TRANSPLANT.

The most common that we can find in local market is 1.4GT injection. That's why I provide the engine code here for you identify the engine if you mange to find it in the scrap yard (kedai potong). I knew 1.4GtIs' engine are very powerful but I have never seen once in my life and I still hope that someone can find it. Another one which is possible to find is the 1.6 8v 90HP  engine coz' some models of 306 do carried it. Other models that I specified earlier are very good but unless your got some special contact with the scrap yard to make the order. I don't think they will take it in coz' these models are not sold in Malaysia. We  need to consider about the price. I did saw a 206 but it was asking for RM7k and the 306 I did not ask but if you wanna know I can tell u the place haha.  We also need to know whether we can get any support and the cost to fix the new engine as they don't work forever.
